The Wall Street Journal sent me to photograph surfer Scott Atkinson’s workout to train for Mavericks, a reef break that produces giant waves in the winter months in Half Moon Bay. The day we shots the photos we had plenty of fog and gorgeous Northern California landscape colors, and no surf able waves!
